Celebration and Festivals in the Era of Covid19?
In the wake of Covid19, many affected countries have imposed various kinds of lockdowns. Several countries that were seriously affected by the Covid19 choose to impose total lockdown. Malaysia has introduced Movement Order Control (MCO) as a way to break the chain of the outbreak. MCO has been carried out in phases and Malaysia is currently in the recovery phase of MCO after the government chooses to impose more relaxed conditions due to much improvement with the Covid19 cases.
MCO enphasizes on the idea of stay-at-home,movement limitation as well as the need to practice social distancing and proper hygiene. Since the introduction of MCO, things have never been the same for Malaysia. Malaysia is forced to step out of comfort zone and to move away from the old norm. They need to get used to and embrace the new norm. By complying with the order and sticking to the new norm, Malaysia is definitely getting closer to winning this battle against the unseen enemy and there will be better shiny days ahead. It is crucial that we do our part to defeat the virus. This means celebrations and festivals have to be put on hold or canceled.
Celebrations and festivals will contribute to mass gathering and this will be a big mistake. Mass gathering will cause potential exposure towards the virus and this will put many lives at risk and in danger. However,being such a great fan of celebrations and festivals, many choose not to let the Covid19 get in the way of the celebration. No one and nothing can stop the celebration and festival. Malaysians have managed to figure out ways and be creative to have the celebration on in this era of Covid19. Most have come up with lots of interesting ideas and unique ways of having the celebrations done.
Turn out that it is possible to have a celebration in the midst of Covid19. People can still come together in an event but they should not put the rules and order aside. There will be a green light for get-tohether provided that they stick to the rules all the time. They can have fun, hanging out with family members and relatives but they will have to promise to keep a safe distance and say no and avoid direct contact with each other. There must be no hand shaking,no touching,no hugging,no kissing and they are encouraged to put on the mask on and off if not all the time.
